DSC 106S
Designed by Giancarlo Piretti, 1965
In 1965 Giancarlo Piretti designed the 106 seating model. The 106S version was created shortly after to satisfy the Eastern market which required narrower seating to better accommodate the space requirements of the Eastern real estate market.
Giancarlo Piretti
Born in Bologna in 1940, Piretti studied at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in the same city before joining Anonima Castelli as a designer. One of his most famous works is the Plia chair, presented in 1969. Among his most important creations are Plona, Platone and DSC 106, which would later propagate its lines to the Axis 3000 and 4000 models. In 1988, at the NeoCon in Chicago, he presented the Piretti Collection: a series of over 50 chairs and seats characterized by a patented mechanism on the backrest, which allows the chairs to be adjusted according to the user's weight.
