Richard Sapper

One of the most influential industrial designers in the world, he was born in 1932 in Munich. Recognized for his extraordinary design adaptability between routine products and home systems, he was a pioneer capable of bringing new information technologies closer to the people. One of his most famous projects was the ThinkPad portable laptop for IBM. A timeless designer by definition, he created the office furniture system “Dalle 9 alle 5” for Anonima Castelli, awarded the Compasso D'Oro in 1987: a precise conglomerate of furnishings including tops, screens and containers equipped with hollow beam supports for the passage of electrical cables. He died in Milan in 2015, leaving the world the belief that design should improve people's daily lives, adopting progress as a starting point for reading the future.
